Purpose:
The purpose of this race is to raise awareness about the value that community health centers (CHCs), such as Valley Healthcare System INC,  provide to our communities and specifically highlight our pharmacy's 340B drug pricing program.  Here is Columbus, Valley Healthcare provides high-quality, accessible, and affordable health care to thousands of underserved patients within our community. We offer a wide range of services including primary care, chronic disease management, behavioral health, pharmacy, dentistry, and vision services. Valley's pharmacy utilizes the 340B program to provide patients with medications at significantly reduced costs and reinvests additional savings to expand access, create outreach programs, and improve health outcomes to help people within our community.  #CHCs4HealthyCommunities #Save340B

Background:
The 340B program is a federally funded bipartisan initiative that allows CHCs to continue to operate and severe our communities. Recently, this program has come under attack by drug companies/manufacturers who are diverting savings away from patient care and into corporate pockets ultimately limiting the services and outreach provided by healthcare centers and endangering patient care.

All proceeds from this race will go directly to Valley's Hope Closet, a monthly resource closet of donated items used to enrich the lives of residents in need in the Tri-City area by providing toiletries, clothing, hygiene products, etc.
