Description
Who is going to be first to host a race post COVID 19 Shutdown? Obviously ERS is crazy and always trying to push the limits but we are not dumb. So we have come up with a strategy to get as close to normal racing as possible without creating the inherent prohibited activities common to racing. This is a touch free socially distancing compliant event.
The SET UP:
- Register using as close to the expected finisher time as you can come up with.
- We will email all the runners a roster with expected start times 2 days prior to the race
- When you arrive your bib number will go with your starting place which will be in speed order. Fastest to slowest.
- Arrive at check in 5 mins prior to your expected start time - 8:00 start would come up at 7:55. This will limit the check in to no more then 4 people at a time. Stay at your car or go warm up somewhere else until it is your time to check in. If you come up early i will give you a dirty look from behind my mask and ask you to leave. I am not being arrested for you and we will shut this down if people don't respect the rules.
- You will be put into the 6 ft dotted line moving towards the start line where a runner will start every 15 seconds. This with the fast to not as fast placement will minimize passing while still giving you a chase and being chased feeling.
- When you finish, grab a water bottle or power aid and then move back to your car area. Do not hang at the start finish line.
- Results will be posted online after the final runners come through and we will try and do updates during the race so people can engage with the event through social media.
- The course is a little different- https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/3058479421 maximizing separation of the runners. Note that on the way out you take the detore past the wetlands center and on the way back you run straight to the start finish line. Remember it by Always staying to the left.

FAQ:
- Is this an actual race? YES, but no sound, arch, fan fare or normal ceremonies unless we can get a true permit from the city (which we can't yet).
- Do i need to stay 6 feet away from other runners? YES, accept while passing or hanging out at your own car. If you gather in groups during the pre-event or post event in the start/finish area we will be forced to shut down the event so don't break the rules. If we do this right there will never be a group violating social distancing rules.
- Can i bring a dog? Yes, public park but really, less is more with this event - we are just testing this plan out and fewer distractions the better.
- Can i run with a stroller - Yes - there are some sections that are rocky but totally do able. Use your best judgement
