FAQ & MORE

FAQ

The Hawaiian Island Challenge Runs are virtual runs of the islands, which can be completed on a treadmill, around your neighborhood, or anywhere you like to run or walk, while safely social distancing and following all state and local laws.

Warning: Actual course shown on maps includes areas where conditions can be dangerous, including, but not limited to traffic, hazardous roads and trails, and hot, rainy, and/or windy weather.

Race Organizers recommend that you complete the entire virtual run in a safe environment. Proceed at your own risk.

How does a virtual challenge work?

Sign up for the CHALLENGE (event/distance) of your choice. Beginning September 21st you'll have approximately three months (Wave One from Sept. 21 - Dec. 31. 2020;  WAVE TWO from Nov. 15, 2020 - Feb. 12, 2021) to walk, jog or run the distance of the virtual course you selected. Log your mileage through this website as you go, and once you've reached your course distance, the challenge is complete. Since this is a VIRTUAL event, you can complete your mileage anywhere and anytime that is most convenient for you during the challenge period.

When does the challenge take place?

Wave One:  September 21 - December 31, 2020

Wave Two:  November 15, 2020 - February 12, 2021

When is the deadline to register?

November 30, 2020 for Wave One

February 12, 2021 for Wave Two or when full

Do I have to walk, jog or run every day, or can I break it up?

You can break it up however you like - daily, twice a day, and take days off, your choice. All activity must logged and submitted for Wave One by December 31, 2020 and Wave Two by February 12, 2021.

How do I keep track of my mileage?

This is an honor system. But ideally you use a GPS watch or phone to track your activity (for distance and time). Then log your activity HERE or by going to the event's results page.

Do treadmill miles count?
