Description

USATF Certified!

FIRST OFF,  who are we?  Race for Hope Des Moines is an annual event inspired by Nic Lovan, a 15 year old Des Moines native.  As time went on, the full impact of brain tumors became glaringly apparent, even in central Iowa.  The first year brought over 600 runners and supporters to Des Moines, raising over $25,000 which went directly to the National Brain Tumor Society.  The second year we partnered with Dragonmaster Foundation who is working to create a centralized database to assist researchers.  By collaborating data, they are able to find trends and similarities to assist the fight.

OUR MISSION is two-fold: raising funds and raising awareness.  Race for Hope Des Moines strives to raise awareness of brain tumors through education, support those who are going through treatment, and honor those who have completed their fight. This year we again are proud to partner with Dragon Master Foundation and National Brain Tumor Society, two non-profit organizations dedicated to brain tumor research. This partnership allows us to combine efforts in finding a cure and bringing an end to brain cancer through support of brain tumor research.

THIS YEAR we’re excited to announce that our 5K course USATF certified!  If you don’t know what that means, don’t feel bad, neither did most of us.  Our USATF certification number is IA14018MF.
