Description
On September 19th, DeRailed Adventure: A Multi-Sport Challenge will be held for those 18 years and older. But why should only the adults have the fun?
It's time for the kids to get a taste of an adventure!
A multi-sport, adventure race is a challenge where "finishing" is the goal. Finishing means you overcame every obstacle and completed every task along the way.
Multi-sport events are not just running. They are not just biking. Events like the Kids Multi-Sport Challenge and the DeRailed Adventure are an opportunity to problem solve and be resolved to finish. They are a test of a person's ability to overcome adversity - what a great skill to learn and practice!
This adventure style race has multiple disciplines including running, a water event and mystery challenges (both mental and physical). The water event is not swimming, but kids should be prepared to get wet from the waist down. Shoes may be removed for the water portion of the race or simply wear shoes that can get wet.
Those participants who are resilient and finish will be entered into a drawing for a $30 gift card to Scheels. All finishers also receive a Scotch-o-roo or a Bennie Bar at Farmers Market-Riceville following the race.
Registration closes Thursday, August 27th at 8 P.M. Further details (starting point, etc.) will be sent out to registered participants on Friday, August 28th.
There is no fee for this event due to the generous volunteers who donate their time to support the Wapsi-Great Western Line Trail and its mission: To provide perceptual opportunities for people of all ages in the world’s natural and built environments, for their enjoyment, education and healthy well-being of body and mind.
We thank those who volunteer, those who participate in our hosted events year-round and those who donate because you help make programs like the Kids Multi-Sport Challenge happen.
This event is open to all children in grades K-5 from any school district or home school. The Wapsi-Great Western Line Trail is a linear park and a welcoming asset to our community that we love to share with all. Join us!
