Learn to love open water swimming in the heart of Chicago!
This program was launched in 2012 to help new triathletes experience open water swimming in a safe, non-intimidating environment. These events provide participants with expert coaching, gear check, wetsuit rental opportunities, lifeguard support and post-event socials with fellow participants and coaches. Additionally, registrants may join the Swim-on-your-own or competitive Aquathlon options. Since inception, more than 12,000 participants have directly enhanced their swim abilities from these clinics.
General registration is now open to the final two events in limited capacity. Participants must be 18 years or older. Registration is a nominal $20 for all events. There will be no on-site registration. Due to capacity restrictions, there are no-refunds or transfers allowed for registrants unable to attend their scheduled event.

This event series features three ways to participate:
The safety of our participants, staff, coaches and our community are paramount. The 2021 sessions will operate with a variety of safety protocols in place, which may include reduced overall capacity, restricted venue access, low-contact check-in, required social distancing, mandatory face coverings and/or other state or local requirements. Beyond these protocols, participants are required to take their own precautions and be self-responsible. Final details will be communicated prior to each session.
Participants may register for each of the four sessions independently or all at once. During the registration process, Swim Clinic and Swim-On-Your-Own participants must select from one of three start times:
Aquathlon participants begin together at 6:00 PM.
Each session is limited to 100 total participants. These events will sell out.
The 2021 Aquathlon competition is just heating up, with nearly 60 participants ready for the July 27 session. Staff will manually record splits, with overall winners in the 1,500m swim earning a gift card to Urban Tri Gear. Congratulations to our fastest finishers of the 2021 season (to date):
FEMALE: 1,500m Swim + 5k Run
MALE: 1,500m Swim + 5k Run
