Description
How will you invest in our planet? For Earth Day 2022, RSM invites you and your family to join us in a virtual 5k trash dash/1 mile walk. What is a trash dash? Well it is just like a regular plogging (picking up trash while jogging) event except you walk, jog or run your 5K/1 mile walk wherever you want. Not only is this a healthy activity to get you outside in nature, but in turn you are investing not only in the planet, but your neighborhood as well.
Wondering where to participate?
Consider high traffic/pollution areas like a forest preserve, local neighborhood park, safe walking paths in your neighborhood and don't forget to do this in daylight so you and your family are the safest possible. Also make sure you have good cell phone coverage
What tools will you need?
Not much - grab a pair of gardening gloves and/or latex gloves to protect your hands, BBQ tongs, salad tongs, or other pickup devices are ideal so you don't have to touch anything and a trash bag or bucket to collect everything in. Don't forget proper clothing - closed toed shoes, long pants and sunscreen is critical.
Where do your trash bags go at the end of the clean up?
Once you've collected an abundance of trash, please ensure items collected are disposed of properly. Consider a community dumpster, your home trash bins, your local waste management company, a town dump, etc.
Registration of course is unlimited, but the amount of trash you pick up is not! Therefore, join us in a healthy competition during your plogging adventure by competing for one of the titles below (don't worry we have prizes for the winners) by submitting a picture through the charge running app:
- Most trash picked up by volume
- Weirdest trash item
- Cutest animal seen on your plogging path
- Most people recruited to help your efforts
To join us for this exciting and Earth friendly event, sign up today and you will receive an email with directions on how to join us for our LIVE broadcast with ChargeRunning on race day, starting at 11amET / 10amCT / 9amMT / 8amPT!
