Why- Indy Jones was diagnosed with Pleuropulmonary Blastoma Type 3, a rare lung cancer, in April 2018, after a large solid mass was detected occupying 70% of her left lung. Though the tumor itself was subsequently removed, before it was originally intended, during an emergency open heart surgery to remove a piece that had branched into her heart, Indy is still facing 9-12 months of chemotherapy at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis to ensure that the cancer is eliminated from her body. Indy is currently three-years-old and one of only 30-50 people diagnosed with PPB worldwide every year. In her case, PPB was a hereditary cancer caused by a DICER1 gene mutation, which increases her risk of developing other rare cancers and benign tumors over her life. DICER1 and Pleuropulmonary Blastoma are still relatively new to the medical world, and, through each event held to support Indy, her family hopes to also raise awareness for her rare cancer and all childhood cancers, which have only a very small percentage of government funding for research.
All are welcome! Drinks and Snacks will be provided!
Please come join us for an evening full of fun in support of Indy, and her family!
