Sunshine Supplies for Teachers 5K & Donut Dash Fun Run for Education

The 1st Annual Sunshine Supplies for Teachers 5K & Donut Dash Fun Run for Education is a race celebrating teachers, schools, and their students.  This sugar-fueled 5K starts and finishes at the Forsyth Park main pavilion.  The race starts at 7:30 am and runs a course in and around the park.  We will offer a few types of runs:  A traditional 5K run, a 1 mile run/walk, a 1 mile Donut Fun Run , and a kid run (ages 10 and under).  All proceeds will go to Sunshine Supplies for Teachers, a non-profit organization that assists teachers and school districts in receiving supplies for classrooms and beyond in Macon & Piatt Counties.  During the fun run, participants must eat a DONUT and then complete the remainder of the race.  The Donut Challenge is a specialty race and has a limited number of spots. To add some extra “sweetness,” we will also have special contests for best donut-themed adult individual costume, best dressed group, and best dressed child (under 10 years of age).  We will also have various raffles going on at the end of the race.

Race is Sunday, July 28th 2024 starting at 7:30 AM

Forsyth Park Large Pavilion   Race Day Check In 6:30 - 7:15 AM

Early Check in July 24 & 26 from 4 - 6 PM at Forsyth Village Hall

We have four different races this year to choose from, along with raffle prizes, a costume contest, and our “Pack The Bus” school supply drive.  Anyone who brings a school supply item to donate will be placed in a special raffle to win great prizes.

Race #1:  Kids’ Run - an untimed, ½ mile race for kids 10 years of age and younger, race will be 

                on sidewalks.  Prizes awarded for best costumes male and female.

Race #2:  1 mile run/walk - an untimed race will be on sidewalks.  No prizes awarded for this  

                 race. 

Race #3:  5K - chip timed, a loop course that runs on sidewalks and the bike/walk path through 

                the park  - First race of the day at 7:30 am

Race #4: Big Hungry’s Donut Fun Run – an untimed, unhinged 1 mile run that has runners 

                running to eat a donut half way through the race.  Ages 10 and up can participate in

                this run.  A limited number of runners will be allowed for this event.  Make sure to sign 

                up EARLY!  Prizes awarded for most creative individual and team outfits.    

Parking:  Lot A off of Weaver Road, or lot C off of Forsyth Parkway.  Restrooms and water stations available at start/finish and along the race route.  Big Hungry’s Daylight Donuts, 121 Coffee, snacks, and beverages will be provided after the race.

5K Awards:  First two places in each age division* and overall male and female winners will receive awards.  Overall male and female winners will be eliminated from their respective age group.  All participants age 12 and under will receive participation medals.  

Age Group Divisions (Both Genders):  10 & Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Fees:  5K-$30 if registered before June 30th, $35 starting July 1st; 1 mile $20; Kids Race $15; Fun Run $30.  No day of late registration for the Fun Run!  Participants of all races are guaranteed a short sleeved t-shirt if registered by June 30, 2024.
