YOU CAN DO THIS EVENT!
You do not have to be an ultramarathoner or marathoner. You definitely don't have to be a fast runner. People who do well in this event will go slow and combine a lot of walking with their running.
This is a last person standing race beginning at 8am, and the last lap will begin at 11pm. You have an hour to cover the 4 mile course and then start again at the top of the next hour. At the top of each hour you must be standing at the start line or you will be eliminated. Whatever time you have left when you finish your 4 miles is your rest/food/bathroom break time. A warning will be given 2 minutes before and 1 minute before each run begins. Once the next hour has started no athlete may receive aid, go to their gear/setup area, or receive any outside help. The only reason to go off course after the bell is rung is to use the restroom and then you must begin the course or be eliminated. On the 11pm lap if there are two or more participants then the last lap is a race and the first athlete to cross the finish line wins.
Sunset is 8:01 pm on race day. A headlamp/flashlight is recommended. Even if you are not sure you will make it that long you should bring one just in case. The Prospect Avenue sidewalk is well lit, but the Savoy paved trail is not. Lighting is decent on the rest of the streets.
Provided: LOTS of bottled water iced down and food as well (bananas, cookies, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, boiled potatoes, etc. Later in the day and evening there will be hamburgers and pizza) If you have a favorite drink or food you are welcome to bring it. Bring a drop bag with a change of clothes, etc. to be available for yourself if you wish.

Race Course
Race Course: The course is on the Savoy bike path, sidewalks and roads. The course distance is approximately 4 miles. If you complete the course every hour you will cover approximately 64 miles.
Directions: Start at 505 Cushing Drive going south, right on Bluebird Lane, right on the Savoy bike path, cross over Curtis Road and go north on Prospect Avenue sidewalk. Left at Windsor Road, left on Galen Drive, right on Prospect Avenue. Cross Curtis Road and continue south on the Savoy bike path. Finish behind 505 Cushing Drive. Course is approximately 4 miles.
