Give Back

Run Iron Mountain strives to give back to the community we love in many ways.  The first is by offering an event where we can come together to support a healthy lifestyle while celebrating and highlighting the beauty of our community.  Our race offers a great hometown feel with local bands, cheerleaders, first responders, and volunteers spread throughout the course.

It is important to our race board that proceeds from the race are used to support local families in need.  For the past eleven years, Run Iron Mountain has donated proceeds from the race to the Dickinson County Cancer Loan Closet (DCCLC). The DCCLC is a non-profit organization operated by volunteers that assists both cancer and non-cancer patients.  The Loan Closet offers medical equipment at no cost, as well as financial assistance to those in need.  Over the past eleven years, Run Iron Mountain has raised over $165,000 for the DCCLC.

As a race board, we recognize that there are many nonprofits in our community that have made and continue to make a significant impact. For this reason, our board decided to donate a portion (over $11,000) of the 2023 race proceeds to the Northwoods AirLifeline. Northwoods AirLifeline is a non-profit organization of volunteer pilots from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northeast Wisconsin who donate their time and aircraft to help patients and their families with urgent medical needs for services not found locally. Since their founding in 1989, over 2000 missions have been flown.

We value the youth of our community and want to support graduating seniors as they begin the next step of their journey.  In addition to the donations to the DCCLC and Northwoods AirLifeline, Run Iron Mountain offers a $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors. This scholarship looks for students that have participated in cross country or track and have run in or volunteered at this race or other similar events that promote wellness.

We would like to thank our volunteers, attendees, and sponsors for making the the past ten years a success.  Without their continued support, this donation would not have been possible.  If you would like to consider becoming a valued sponsor, please reach out to us via email at RunIronMountain906@gmail.com
