Description
Freewheelin’ Community Bikes will host its signature event, Nancy’s Ride on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2021 in the heart of Mapleton Fall Creek neighborhood at 34th and Central Avenue. All ride proceeds will benefit Freewheelin’ Community Bikes, a 501(c)3 youth development organization that connects youth with skills for life over a shared passion for the bicycle.
What is Nancy’s Ride?
Nancy’s Ride is a welcoming, inclusive ride for all cyclists with the goal of sharing Freewheelin’s love of supporting youth cycling. This year all ride loops will start and return at the Tabernacle Presbyterian Church near the Freewheelin’ Community Bike Shop. Amenities include snacks and beverages, lunch, and restrooms. The rides will include Indianapolis urban neighborhoods as well as other local sites. The family oriented Destination Ride (10k) will include unique destinations and attractions. The Distance Ride event allows participants to build their own distance with 3 complimentary routes, a 15 mile route and two 20 mile routes.
About Nancy
Nancy Stimsom was a youth pastor who believed in the worth and gifts of each individual to enrich the world. She was also a passionate cyclist. She founded Freewheelin’ Community Bikes in 2009 to share practical and intangible life skills with youth. Nancy believed that by teaching youth how to maintain, repair and ride bicycles we would help promote great citizens of the Indianapolis Community. We all strive to “be like Nancy.”
