Crossroads Festival of Races

The 2020 Crossroads Festival of Races, sponsored by Athletico Physical Therapy, will be held on September 19.  Originally the Festival of Races was planned as a Half Marathon-10k-5k, to enhance the popular Crossroads Half Marathon.  After much consideration and input from our members and the local running/walking community, WVRR has decided to move forward with an amended version of the Crossroads.  The Covid 19 version of the Crossroads Festival of Races will include a 5k-10k-15k.  

The races will be held simultaneously, starting at 8 AM.  All distances will start at Meadows Center ( the southeast corner of 25th Street and Ohio Blvd). The course will go through Deming Park and return to Meadows Center.  The loop will be a 5k done once for 5k, twice for 10k and three times for the 15k.  The finish line will have a mat for finish and a lap mat for those continuing.

The course will run east on Ohio on the south side of the east bound lane. Then enter the park and continue up the hill through the Holly Arboretum, behind the pool then right through the Frisbee Course and down a long steep hill upon exiting the park through the north gate (exit). We will cross in front, where the water stop will be located, and then back on the south side of the east bound lane returning to Meadows. 

Obviously rules will be in place to protect the health of all including athletes, volunteers and spectators.  These will be strictly enforced.

1.       If you are not in the act of competing or preparing to compete you must be correctly wearing a mask at all times.

2.       The start will be a line start with a distance of 6 feet apart. The race is chip timed so it doesn’t hurt you.

3.       If you pass a runner or walker you use at least a 3 foot passing zone.  The distance is the responsibility of the passer.  You will be disqualified for non-compliance.

4.       Other than in passing, 6 feet distancing will in effect at all times.

5.       On race day packet pick-up starts at 6:30.  Social distancing will be enforced.

6.       Athletes must exit the finish line area immediately.  If you want to meet up with family or friends please do so outside the event perimeter. ( The Octoberlanders Festival will be going on)

7.       There will be no race day registrations!!!

8.       Online registration will continue until midnight September 19th.  You must preregister before this date to receive a shirt and for WVRR members a little extra treat.   Online registration will continue until Thursday at midnight but no treats or shirts.

9.       Packets will be available for pick up a Pacesetters on Friday the 18th until 6:00 pm.

10.   Awards will be based on participation and will be available for pick-up at Pacesetters on Monday, September  28th.  You will be notified via e-mail.
