Description

Zombie Bridge Run 5K - Saturday September 28th at 9 a.m.

Looking for a 5k with a twist?

Now is your chance to see if you have the survival skills necessary to endure the zombie infested world. The Apocalypse begins Saturday September 28th at 9 a.m. at the Lake County Fair Grounds in Crown Point. Everyone that participates will need to use their instincts to maneuver their way through the different "Challenge" obstacles, and flee from the ravenous, walking dead, looking for their next meal. Do you have what it takes to make it through our three safe challenge zones?

Each runner will start the race with a life belt with three health flags. Your sole mission is to cross the finish line with at least one flag remaining, which will secure your future as a human being. Hint: There may be hidden life flags along the course.

What to expect:

Zombies following you through the course, attempting to take your tear away flags at every turn. This run takes place at the Lake County Fairgrounds during the well-known Covered Bridge Harvest Festival. All benefits for the race will benefit the Special Olympics of Lake County and the Fuel Fitness Lifting Hearts Facility.

Awards

Awards will be given for the following areas:

- Top Male Finisher
- Top Female Finisher
- Top Zombie Costume

Can't run but still want to support the cause?

We're looking for volunteers to participate as zombies, challenge station leaders, and obstacle supervisors. If you are interested in supporting the Special Olympics of Lake County, please contact Cindi Underwood at info@fuelnwi.com.

Mini-Monster Dash - 1Mile

Interested in the 1 Mile Mini-Monster Dash?

In addition to the Zombie run, there will be a Mini-Monster Dash/Walk for children 12 and under at 10am. Children must be registered, but families are welcome to participate together. The cost is $5.00 per child; parents can walk the course for free with their children. At the end of the course, each participating child will Pick-A-Pumpkin (1 pumpkin per child) and may then take it to the “All Things Pumpkin” pavilion to decorate it.

The mission statement of the festival is: To hold an annual Covered Bridge Harvest Festival at the Lake County Fairgrounds providing for wholesome fun and family entertainment, raising proceeds and accepting donations, for the restoration, maintenance and development of the Lake County Fairgrounds; and for the maintenance and development of the Special Olympics Lake County Training Facility and on-going needs for Special Olympics Lake County competitions. This is a great event to bring out the family, as the festival will be going after the event. The weekend includes fun family activities, visit http://www.coveredbridgeharvestfest.org/index.php for more details on the festival.
