GOLD NUGGET TRIATHLON VIRTUAL TRAINING PROGRAM

Join us this year for a 8wk virtual triathlon training program. You will receive access to a 8week training program that will be available through TrainingPeaks, a top-notch training program available via app and website. We will also meet on Zoom three (3) times over the 8weeks to talk about different training principles, have breakout time to talk about how your training is going with others and on our final Zoom session we will talk what to expect on race day, what to wear, what to eat, and how to have your best race yet! This 8week program is the motivation and positivity you're looking for this year to bring your passion back to exercise. This program is perfect for a newbie triathlete to the experienced triathlete thats looking to get some structure back into their life and focus from a coach without the individualized coaching price tag. At the end of every Zoom session, Coach Heather will be available for 30minutes to answer any additional coaching and/or fitness specific questions you might have as well. We will also have a private Facebook group for everyone in the group to join.

Zoom meeting days are: MONDAYS 6:30-7:30pm - March 21st, April 11th, May 9th

Training Plan Expectations: 2 swim workouts, 3 bike workouts, 3 runs workouts per week plus 1 off day! You'll need a bike trainer or stationary bike in order to complete the bike workouts, if outdoors is not an option. It's highly encouraged to look over the pool schedules and determine which lap swim times work for your schedule. You'll be able to move around your weekly workouts but athletes will receive the best training if they follow the plan as written, which will include your off day on Monday, swim workouts on Tuesday & Fridays, bike workouts Tuesday, Thursday, & Sunday, and run workouts on Wednesday, Saturday & Sundays. We will have a beginner/intermediate training plan AND an intermediate/advanced training plan. The beginner/intermediate plan will consist of swim workouts between 500-1000yards, bike workouts 30-60minutes, and run workouts 2-3miles. The intermediate/advanced training plan will consist of swim workouts between 1400-2600yards, bike workouts between 30-75minutes, and run workouts between 2-4miles. 

 

SPRING/SUMMER IN-PERSON PROGRAMS

This year's Turnagain Training Triathlon Group will meet on Wednesday's.

This is a 75min triathlon based workout focused on gaining speed and building endurance.  

Our Youth Elite Team, ages 11-15 will meet 6-7:15pm, Kids 16yrs through Adults will meet 7:15-8:30pm (1ST SESSION CANCELLED DUE TO LOW #'S, PLAN TO RUN SESSION #1 IF WE GET A MINIMUM 5 PEOPLE SIGNED UP BEFORE JUNE 22ND).

Our Summer program will go May 4-July 27th, 14week Wednesdays. All kids must have some experience with swimming, biking & running and looking to be competitive in the sport. We will be working on biking, running & transitions, May 4th-June 22rd then change over to open water swimming, trail running and transitions June 29-July 27th. Coach Heather will be on a stand-up paddle board during open water swim workouts and will have buoys out for swimmers to swim to. We have wetsuits available to loan out, first preference will be for the kids, as they were purchased through the USA Triathlon High Performance Grant. The goal of this program is to get more kids to attend USA Triathlon youth & junior nationals, July 29-30th in Cincinnati, OH.

Everyone is required to have a USA Triathlon license that is valid through the end of the training session. Please email your USAT license to Coach Heather upon signing up for the training group. Everyone is welcome to come and try out 1 session for free, but a USAT license is required (Kids 17 & under, $10/yr; Adults $15/1day license OR $50/yr license).

WHAT YOU NEED: All athletes must have a safe, working bike (helmets are required too when outdoors!). Clip-in pedals is strongly encouraged but not required. Outdoor running clothing and shoes with elastics are also strongly encouraged. When we transition to open water swimming, Coach Heather has 14 wetsuits AND swim buoys available to loan out, first come first served with initial preference on youth. Tinted goggles are helpful when open water swimming. Swim suit or tri suit is necessary under your wetsuit. Recommend bringing a towel as well. Neoprene swim booties are really helpful in Little Campbell Lake as the rocks are extremely sharp and the water temperature initially can be cold.

2nd session - June 29-July 27th - Meet at Kincaid's Little Campbell Lake, near the entrance to the lake side

WHY JOIN: 

- Youth Elite Team: These are kids looking to take their triathlon training to the next level, want to push themselves physically and be guided by a Coach. These are kids that are interested in being on the podium in the age group or getting into good shape for their upcoming Fall sports seasons. The goal of the 2022 season is for our athletes to join Coach Heather at USA Triathlon's Youth & Junior Nationals, July 29-31st in Cincinnati, Ohio, which is a REALLY cool kids-only event. Additionally, in order to be on the team, athletes need to be able to swim, bike and run but do not necessarily have to be strong at all 3 sports. Must know how to swim. It is OK if they are new to open water swimming, many kids are. 

 

EXAMPLE OF PRACTICE:

6-6:45pm - 45min Bike Workout - working on hill interval repeats

6:45-7pm Practice Transitions as a group several times

7-7:15pm - 15min Run Workout - 3sets; 2mins FAST 2mins EASY 

 

**DROP-IN IS AVAILABLE FOR $15 PER CLASS VIA VENMO. EMAIL HEATHER.HELZER@TURNAGAINTRAINING.COM TO GET THE LINK** Drop-in is only an option if the minimum 5ppl sign up for the program by April 27th & June 22nd. If the minimum 5people to sign up does not happen, the program will be cancelled. 

***Minimum 5athletes must be signed up for each 14wks group by the April 27th in order for this group to run. If the minimum is not met, full refunds will be returned. 2nd session minimum 5people to sign up will be required by June 22nd or the program will be cancelled*** 

***All participants MUST have a USAT Triathlon membership OR pay for a 1day license ($10yr Kids, $50yr Adults OR $15/day). Anyone is welcome to try the 1st practice for free, you must have a USAT membership or you're welcome to pay for a $15/1day license, per our insurance.
