About UCSF Pediatric Survivorship program

One of the triumphs of modern medicine is improving the survival rate for children diagnosed with cancer. Childhood cancer used to be a universally fatal diagnosis, and now nearly 80% of children diagnosed with cancer survive. Survivors must endure intensive chemotherapy, traumatic surgeries and/or harsh radiation. These therapies can have long-term physical and emotional consequences. The Pediatric Survivorship Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals provides care for survivors of childhood cancer, investigates the long-term consequences of evolving therapies, and advocates for the survivors and their families. Your support through this event will help these kids and enhance knowledge of the late effects of childhood cancer.

About us

We are first year Physician Assistant (PA) students at Marshall B. Ketchum University. In our pursuit of becoming quality health care professionals, we are dedicated to service for humanity, our communities, and are committed to the welfare of others.

What are PAs and what do they do?

  • We are health care providers who work collaboratively with a team to provide medical service to a variety of communities. PAs work closely with physicians to reduce the workload, so you wait less time to get the care you need.
  • PAs can act as your primary care provider. We are able to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications similarly to a physician or nurse practitioner.
  • PAs are versatile and can practice in any specialty and have the ability to switch specialties. This ability to change specialties allowed many PAs to join the frontlines in order to provide aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.
