Description
BOOK IT! is Ethan & Choco's Book Club's (ECBC) annual fundraiser, which provides the majority of the funding that supports ECBC's book and reading programs at CHOC Children's Hospital. The event includes a 5K run/walk, a 1K Fun Run, a book drive, and a celebration of literacy for all that includes a literary costume contest, authors, book sellers, and other literary-themed activities. All participants in either the 1K or 5K walk/run will receive a BOOK IT 2023 t-shirt, finisher medal, and electronic timing results. Awards will be given for first, second, and third place 5K winners (overall and age divisions) as well as for costume contest winners. The top five finishers on the winning team will also receive first place medals. THANK YOU for helping hospitalized kids, especially kids going through cancer and other life-altering treatment, to thrive through treatment and beyond.

BOOK DRIVE
There are various ways to support the BOOK IT book drive. They include:
- Click on the "donate" tab on this site to select a donation level that funds books for patients at CHOC Children's Hospital.
- Purchase a new book while onsite at BOOK IT and put it in the ECBC donation box. Everyone who contributes a new book to the ECBC donation box will receive a raffle ticket.
- Fund the purchase of new books at the BOOK IT Handprint Wall -- put your colorful handprint on the wall, and write the title of the book you want to donate in your handprint. For every $20 donated, one book will be purchased in your name, and donor will receive 5 raffle tickets.
- Purchase 5 raffle tickets for $20/ticket (at the Raffle Booth or from a roaming raffle ticket seller -- look for the crazy hats!)
Raffle winners will be announced at 9:45 AM, just before 5K award medals are given out. Must be on-site at raffle drawing to win prizes!
LITERARY COSTUME CONTEST
Run as Your Favorite Book Character!
Help us celebrate children’s books by dressing up as your favorite book character! Costume contest will be held at 7:15am, just before the race warm-up.
First, second, and third place Prizes will be awarded. A raffle ticket will be given to all participants!
