The NUTmeg Challenge

Mon May 25 - Tue July 14 Anywhere, CT 99999 US

Description

Bored or depressed by the absence of races these days? Re-energize yourself by running (Virtually) around Connecticut between Memorial Day and Bastille Day (July 14), a period of 50 days.

Four decades ago, Peter Gambaccini, an accomplished runner and writer, ran from Thompson in the Northeast corner of the state to Greenwich in the Southwest "panhandle" for an article in Connecticut Magazine, taking less than a week to cover the 155 mile route. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of his run, we've organized the NUTmeg Challenge, to provide the running NUTS of Connecticut (and anywhere else) a chance to duplicate his run, over a longer time frame and with an option for longer distances, and to raise money for several state charities.

A choice of three Virtual Challenges to suit your ability and training goals, and to keep you motivated as the days get warmer. T-shirts (or optional tech shirt upgrade) and finishers medals will be mailed at the conclusion of the Challenge (medals guaranteed to everyone who registers by June 1, as supplies allow after that). Keep track of your daily mileage on this webpage, chart your own progress and that of your friends with RunSignUp's Challenge Leaderboard function. Should your motivation or fitness change mid-challenge, you can upgrade or downsize to a longer or shorter event.

Proceeds will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and the Mercy Learning Center.
