Description
In this exciting new Virtual Race, the run 5K2, you and a teammate will each run 5K. Hence, 5K2. You can think of it as a virtual relay.
Each of you will cover a 5K on a track, road, or park course. You do not have to be in the same location (but you can be). You do not have to run on the same day. But you must run during the month of June, and submit your results by July 7.
When you are done, your run 5K2 results will be tabulated by adding your combined times AND your combined ages. You will be scored in 10-year-age groups: 20 to 29 ... 70 to 79 ... 100 to 109 ... 160 to 169, and so on.
Best of all, there are 17 different divisions to compete in, many with a strong family connection. Like Mother-Son, Grandfather-Granddaughter, and so on. Get everyone in your family involved. The older the better!
You can use your 5K time more than once. That is, you can use one 5K time with different teammates in different divisions. You must submit a new $10 registration for each new division you enter.
The run 5K2 is a no-frills race. It costs just $10 to enter your 2-person team. One person, your “team captain,” must do all the registration, payment, and results-submission for your team. This is an honor-system race.
The race is open for one month in June, and will return in August. This means you will have two opportunities to run with your favorite teammates. In August, you can try for a faster time.
We will be compiling and maintaining "World Best" performances in all divisions and age-groups. The event will reappear on an annual basis.
REGISTRATION is easy, though it takes a minute longer to register two people than just one. Important: One person, the "team captain," is responsible for registration, team payment, and results. As captain, you will have to know the birth date, email, and postal address of your teammate before you begin the registration process.
