Description
One Mile An Hour – an awareness / fundraising campaign:
What – a 24-hour endurance event comprised of running one mile each hour for the entire period
When – Beginning Friday, June 15 at 7 pm and concluding Saturday, June 16 at 6:30 pm
Where – Appoquinimink High School Fieldhouse
Who – Aubrey & Andy Shearer (and whomever else wants to join us for a mile or so)
Why – To raise awareness and funds for the programs to prevent teenage suicide and benefit Veteran suicide prevention programs.
How – We will run one mile each hour for 24 straight hours
Beneficiaries – Mental Health Association in Delaware’s teenage suicide prevention programs
Rebuilding Warriors suicide prevention program
Mission / purpose – The undertaking is to draw attention, provide education and perhaps solicit funds for the prevention of teen and Veteran suicide. This endurance event hopes to draw upon the resources of the collective partnership in order to achieve these objectives. Partners include –
Middletown Athletic Club, Premier Physical Therapy, Triassic Sports, the Limo Guy, the Mental Health Association in Delaware, Wounded Warriors Project & the Appoquinimink School District
For a $100 donation by an individual, family or business... you will be an official Mile sponsor (sold out). We will make 24 separate Mile Sponsor signs that will be displayed at the event. All donations are also very much appreciated! Every dollar counts.
