Coconut Creek Earn Your Wings Virtual Run Series

The City of Coconut Creek is happy to present our first virtual race series called "Earn Your Wings." The virtual race can be done from the comfort of your home, backyard or you can take the race outdoors and use it as an opportunity to explore our beautiful Creek community. 

Although the race is an individual event, you don't have to compete alone. If you want to gain a competitive edge, feel free to invite friends and neighbors to join the virtual race. Better yet, make it a fun family affair! Utilize any one of our 18 City parks or 9 greenway trails so you and family members can compare times and earn household bragging rights.

In addition to the location, you control the pace. Finish the race in one day or take your time and complete it over multiple days. Whichever you choose, keep in mind that the race must be completed within the designated month. Below is a list of the four individual races that complete the series:

BUTTERFLY EGG RACE 5K (3.1 miles) Registration available September 1 through October 31, 2020. Run must be completed in October 

CATERPILLAR RACE 10K (6.2 miles) Registration available October 1 through November 30, 2020  Run must be completed in November

CHRYSALIS RACE 15K (9.3 miles) Registration available November 1 through December 31, 2020. Run must be completed in December

BUTTERFLY RACE Half Marathon 13.1 miles Registration available December 1 through January 30, 2021. Run must be completed in January

How much does it cost to sign-up for each race?

The cost per race is $10, so $40 for all four.

Can anyone register?

Participants must be 6 years or older to register. We absolutely encourage families to run and walk together! Everyone, both Coconut Creek residents and from out of town, are able to sign up, just be aware that you will need to pick up your finisher medals in person.

So the first race registration begins on September 1st, by when must I complete the run by? 

Great question! The run must be completed within the month of October, October 31st. So if you sign-up on September 1st, your virtual run begins on October 1st.

Do I get anything for completing the race?

Absolutely! After completing each race you'll earn a finisher medal. You will be e-mailed when your medal is ready for pickup at our Creek Fit North location at 4455 Sol Press Blvd, Coconut Creek, FL 33073. If you complete all 4 races, you'll receive an Earn Your Wings short sleeve t-shirt! T-shirts must be picked up at Creek Fit North as well. 

We get a medal? What does it look like?

The medal is the same as the graphic for the race! So the first one would be our awesome Butterfly Egg design.

Wow those medals are cool! What if my friend is late signing up and missed the first run? Will he be able to register for it?

Unfortunately, once a race is completed you can no longer register and participate. But please tell your friend to sign up for the next one!

Am I able to sign up for all the races all at once?

No, you'll only be able to register for each race during the registration period, which would be the month prior to the race and the month the race is held. For instance, the race that must be run in the month of October, the Butterfly Egg Race, has registration open for the months of September and October.

What if I'm from out of state? Will my medal be sent to me?

Unfortunately, all medals must be picked up at our Creek Fit North location. The same for the Earn your Wings T-shirt if you complete all 4 races. But please come visit us when it's safer to do so! 

I want to register but not sure of a safe place to run? Where can I go?

We encourage everyone, especially Coconut Creek residents, to visit our many parks and greenways to complete your run! Please make sure to follow all regulations and guidelines set by your City. 

I haven't run in a while, do I need to complete it all at once?

You'll be able to complete the distance at your own pace. All at once or in intervals are both accepted!
