Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) 2024 Southern Regional One Mile Championship
The Milledge Mile has been designated by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) as its 2024 Southern Regional One Mile Championship!
- Come join runners from all over the South to experience our fast and fun one mile run down Milledge Avenue, run in five waves
- See some of the fastest milers in the South compete in the final wave
- Will anyone win the race cash bonus prizes of $500 for the (first) male under 4:00 or (first) female under 4:30?
Volunteers!
Volunteers are the backbone that makes every event a success. We are in need of volunteers for the Milledge Mile. The greatest need is for race day between 6:15am and 10:00am, times vary depending on your position. Please consider volunteering for this great event, even if you are running! Packet Pickup and Last Minute Registration
Friday, July 26 from 4-7 pm at Athens Running Company, 210 South Milledge Ave.
Pre-Registered runners will be guaranteed a t-shirt. All others will receive a t-shirt on a first come first served basis while supplies last.
Race Day Schedule
6:00AM Packet Pickup at Clarke Central High School (plenty of parking available).
NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS AND NO BIB TRANSFER.
6:30AM Packet pickup closes
8:30AM Post run celebration and Awards at Athens Running Company
Wave Assignments
Runners are pre-assigned to waves based on the estimated time submitted at registration. Except for Wave 5, the fastest wave, every attempt is made to have an equal number of runners in each wave. Additional waves may be added based on number of participants. Wave times are as follows:

7:30AM Wave 3 6:30 to 7:59
7:45AM Wave 4 5:15 to 6:29
8:00AM Wave 5 Under 5:15
Adjustments to these waves may be made to accommodate registration numbers and equal distribution of runners among the waves.
Awards
Overall awards and CASH prizes to the male and female racers who are the top 3 finishers overall, 1st masters, and 1st grandmasters. Age Group awards will be given to male and female 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in 5-year age groups starting at 14 and Under and going through 80 and Over.
Anti-Doping Notice: Athens Road Runners is affiliated with USA Track & Field (USATF) and Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), which has a Fair Competition Policy that athletes accepting awards must comply with. By accepting an award at the Milledge Mile race, you are affirming that you are in compliance with this policy. Foremost among the Policy provisions are that you have not taken a performance enhancing substance on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned substance list and that you are in compliance with anti-doping policies set forth by USATF and the US Anti-Doping Agency. T-Shirts
T-shirts are available with Milledge Mile and Virtual Milledge Mile on-line registration through June 30, 2024. After that date t-shirts will be available as supplies last. If you want a t-shirt you must register for the Milledge Mile before June 30, 2024. Virtual Runners, t-shirts will not be mailed. Please make arrangements for your shirt to be picked up.
T-shirts must be picked up at the early packet pickup on Friday afternoon at Athens Running Company or on race day morning at Clarke Central HIgh School packet pickup area. T-shirts will not be mailed.
The 2024 Proceeds from Milledge Mile will go to Mercy Health Center and Sirius Athletics
MERCY HEALTH CENTER
Mercy has been providing free medical, dental, pharmacy, counseling, and health education to the uninsured of Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oglethorpe, and Oconee counties for more than two decades. We are able to carry out our mission to serve nearly 2,000 patients annually with the help of more than 500 volunteers and generous donations to help our neighbors in need.
SIRIUS ATHLETICS
Sirius Athletics is an inclusive USA Track and Field program serving young athletes ages 6-15. Its mission is to empower, encourage, and equip Athens-area youth through excellent coaching in a fun, encouraging environment. Its vision is to build a club where generations of athletes find joy in track and field while building relationships that bridge social and economic divides.
