Description

Please join us for THE DOUGLAS COUNTY NINE MEMORIAL "WELCOME HOME RUN" Saturday, February 27, 2021. This Black History Month Inaugural event will also include  live music and fun for the whole family! We encourage everyone to participate, lest we forget The military service of The Douglas County Nine in WWI and the supreme sacrifice of Pvt. Will Sparks, the only African American from Douglas County, GA to be killed in action during The Great War!

The cost is $30 for adults and $10 for children 10 years of age or younger. Each registered participant will receive a t-shirt. Registration will begin at 8 AM. There will be a one mile "Fun Run" beginning at 10, with the 5K starting after. Registration will be available on the day of the race in person for $35. Sponsorships are also available.

The Douglas County Nine 5K honors the legacy of the Nine Americans of African Descent from Douglas County, GA  93rd Division Army Infantry Colored, 372nd Regiment who fought under French Command in WWI with the likes of the famous Harlem Hell Fighters and The 1st Separate Battalion National Guard, Washington DC in the 157th Red Hand Division. A portion of the registration proceeds will benefit The Douglas County Museum of History and Art.
