Description

May 7, 2022, at 9am, at the Sullivan City Park, Sullivan, Indiana, we will have the second annual Run for Rob event. This is in memory of Rob Pitts, who was killed in the line of duty. We will have a 5K run, 1.96 mile walk (Rob's badge number was 196), and a four person Heroes team workout.

Last year, we raised $10,000 and donated all of it to the COPS Cycling for Survivors. We had 350 registered participants from eight different states!! There will be food vendors and this event is at the city park and there will be a playground for children.

Police Officer Rob Pitts was shot and killed while conducting a homicide investigation at the Garder Quarter Apartments on Linwood Court. Investigators were following up on leads from a homicide that occurred earlier in the day. As Officer Pitts and other detectives approached the homicide suspect's apartment the man opened fire on them, fatally wounding Officer Pitts. Officer Pitts was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Officer Pitts had served with the Terre Haute Police Department for 16 years and prior to that, he was a six-year veteran of the Sullivan City Police Department.
