The Possum

The Possum is a 12-hour night trail run that will be held on a 5k (loop) trail course that is partly wooded, and partly open space (agrarian trail). The race winners will be determined by how many complete laps of the 5k course they complete in the 12-hour period.  Runners will be responsible for their own light sources for the duration of the race and will not be allowed to run if they do not have adequate light and reflective gear.  This is a night run on unlit trails, where some areas will be rooty and rocky so be prepared!

Camp the Night! – Primitive camping will be allowed in designated areas near bathrooms on site.  No RV camping will be allowed.  (All campers must be racers or with a racer.  All campers must be signed up before setting up camp at or before 6pm EST Saturday August 20th.)  Camping for one campsite is free if at least one of your party is a paid racer.

Runner Categories:
Teams- Teams of up to 6 members are allowed.  Female, Male and Co-ed teams will receive prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category.  Ages of teams will not be awarded by groups. (Team members under the age of 18 must-have legal guardians present and a waiver signed.). If registering as a team, only one name is needed on the signup.  Upon arrival, additional team members will be required to sign in and sign a waiver.  People registered as a team are not eligible for "solo race" or "fastest one lap".

Solo Racers - Solo racers are allowed and will receive prizes for Female and Male categories for 1st 2nd and 3rd places in each category and age group. People signed up for solo race are also eligible for the "fasted one lap". The Age groups will be categorized by:

• 17 and under (must be accompanied by a legal guardian and have a waiver signed)
• 18 to 28
• 29 to  39
• 40 to 49
• 50 and over (masters)

Awards:

Fastest One Lappers – Awards will be given for the fastest one-lap individual Male and Female (no age group breakout) This lap can be run at any time during the 12 hours but the competitor must inform race officials they are attempting their “Fast Lap” before they start.  So it can be recorded separately. This lap will be posted and then other competitors can try to break it!  As long as it is recorded by a race official and completed before 8 am Sunday morning the 21st.  People registering for the solo race may run a "fastest lap" but people who only sign up for the fastest lap are not eligible for an award in "solo race" (most total laps).

Teams: Team who completes the most laps over the course of the evening.

Solo 12 Hour: Most Laps completed.  

Swag Bags - will be guaranteed for all pre-registered racers.  Race Day Registration is allowed but the goodies might not be as good!
