Eddie Benton -- A Joyful Life Well Lived!

Eddie Benton loved three things above all else: the Lord, his family, and running.

As a Pastor, Youth Minister, and speaker for over 50 years, he impacted many communities and churches across the United States with his infectious smile, laughter, and love for Jesus. If you heard him speak, you undoubtedly heard the gospel and some of the best preacher jokes around.

Next to the Lord, his greatest love was his wife, Mandy. Eddie loved Mandy without abandon, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with her being active, enjoying family, or just being together. Their love for one another was so evident in the way that they served each other and served the Lord. Eddie and Mandy’s love and marriage was an example for many around them, but especially for their 4 children and several grandchildren whom they love fiercely.

Eddie loved Jesus and Mandy most of all, but running came very close behind. In his many years of racing and training, he logged well over 100,000 miles, 101 marathons, 4 IRONMAN triathlons, and countless half marathons and other races. He extended this love of running and sports into serving the community by coaching numerous track teams, cross country teams, and anything his children were involved in. For years, he served as an FCA coach and mentor to several high school sports teams in Lexington.

If you ever had an encounter with Eddie, even if it was for just a few moments, you likely knew about his three loves. He was never shy about sharing them. To know Eddie Benton, was to know how joyful life can be. That is a legacy that will shine in the hearts of those who knew him for eternity.
