Description

This fundraising event will be at Forest Park’s historical Monkey House, 302 Sumner Avenue, Springfield, on Saturday, March 8, 2024, from 10am to 12:00pm. Our 5K is a USATF Certified Route.  Individuals, groups and clubs are encouraged to join our 5K or 10K event.

New this year is SRM's Young Hero's Fun Run for kids ages 6 to 15. Join us for the Young Hero's Fun Run, a spirited and uplifting event designed for kids ages 6 to 15 at 9:00am on March 8 at Forest Park's Monkey House. This exciting run not only encourages healthy activity and community spirit, but also supports a great cause—helping the Springfield Rescue Mission's Emergency, Rehabilitation, and Community Food programs.  Put on your running shoes and get ready to dash for a difference! Come run, have fun, and make a difference!

A complimentary spaghetti dinner will be held on Friday, March 7 at the Basketball Hall of Fame, 1000 Columbus Avenue, Springfield from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  The night include music, raffle prizes and local artisan vendors offering their wares.  This event is a great time to pre-register for any event, pick up your event t-shirt and enjoy a great night with fellow participants.

Both the dinner 5K10K walk/run and the Young Hero's Fun Run promises to be fun, family-friendly events designed to bring our community together in support of our most vulnerable populations.

About the Springfield Rescue Mission

The SRM stands as Massachusetts’ oldest homeless shelter and rehabilitation initiative, ranking fifth in the nation. Spanning two locations, our Taylor Street site hosts an Emergency Shelter accommodating 45 men nightly, offering meals, showers, and clothing. Our Rehabilitation Program supports transitions with healthcare, addiction services, and mental health support. At Mill Street, our New Life Rehabilitation Program aids up to 60 men over 6-12 months through a holistic Wellness Track, including medical care, academic support, workforce development and life skills training. We also distribute 3.1 million pounds of food annually, benefiting hundreds through meals and community outreach.
