Virtual Race Info

What is a Virtual Race?

During this time of CoVid-19 restrictions, we are not allowed to gather in groups and hold large, in-person events.  So instead of an In-Person race, we are offering a virtual run - "Run for the Red - Anywhere!" to benefit the American Red Cross 2021 Disaster Relief Efforts

A virtual run means you choose your course and time to run or walk - your place, your pace! On Saturday, August 7, 2021 we will be accepting results from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. You may register for the 10K, 5K, or 1 Mile distance.  You can start any time and use the RaceJoy app to track and submit, or use your phone, fitness tracker, or treadmill readout to show us your distance and time.

Those registering prior to July 15 2021 will have their race materials mailed to them in time for race day, August 7 , 2021. Those registering 7/16 and after will have their items sent out as soon as possible after registration. We will make every effort but we cannot ensure they will arrive in time for race day.  You will be informed via email of your planned bib number for tracking and result submission purposes.

See information below for tracking through RaceJoy or submitting your results to be eligible for awards.

TRACKING AND SUBMITTING YOUR VIRTUAL RESULTS

Using RaceJoy to track your race and submit your results:

We’ve made it easy to upload your results to the Virtual Event, using RaceJoy.  You’ll need to download the RaceJoy app: https://www.racejoy.net/download (or choose your favorite App provider)  It’s available for your Android or iPhone.

When you’ve downloaded the app, set up your profile (Name, City, Email Address, DOB) so that RunSignUp can let RaceJoy know that you’ve registered for a race with RaceJoy Tracking. You can also set up a Tracking Number (optional) so that your friends and family can send you messages of support while you are completing your virtual race.

Once you have confirmed your race and distance on RaceJoy, that’s all you need to do until you are ready to race!

RACEJOY will go live approximately 1 week before Race Day. All those registered will receive an email with further information at that time.

ON RACE DAY:

The results are open starting at 7:00 am through 7:00 pm on August 8, 2020 so you can run your virtual race and submit your time! Open the app and confirm your race.  Click START TRACKING to let the app know!  You will see a message that tells you to turn off your WiFi on your phone; the app runs solely on cell phone connection.  If you keep the WiFi on it will skew the tracking.

That’s it!  As you complete each mile, RaceJoy will give you an audio status update.  When you have completed your course (10K, 5K, or 1 M) the app will let you know your completion time and automatically send your results to RunSignUp for inclusion in the race results.  If for some reason your results do not upload automatically, you will see instructions for uploading them manually.  You can also send a screenshot of your results to andrea@bluecheetahtiming.com

Don't worry, we will be sending out instructions via email shortly before race day!

Fundraisers (Individual or Team) and Donations

Help people affected by disasters such as storms and countless other crises by making a gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief

Who is a Fundraiser?  In this virtual event, you are! Everyone who registers becomes a fundraiser and has the ability to assist the American Red Cross in meeting their donation goals and provide relief during the 2020 Hurricane Season.

Each registrant can make their own Fundraising page and use it to help generate donations. Create your own fundraising slogan, upload your photo, and earn virtual fundraising badges when you meet goals. You can set this fundraising page up during the registration process - if you are registering as a family/group you can set it up for just the first person entering the registrations and bypass everyone else.

Is there a minimum amount that needs to be raised? No, there is no minimum requirement, and you don't have to fundraise at all.  We just wanted to give everyone the opportunity to assist with this important mission.

Can I form a team with my family and friends? Yes, you can!  When you create your fundraiser page, just select TEAM FUNDRAISER and name your team.  Whoever creates the team is the Team Captain.  The donations generated from other fundraisers on your team are counted toward your team goal. Fundraisers are people who are registered for the race; they raise money from donors who make contributions to the cause.

Can I be both a Fundraiser and a Donor? Yes! You can register for the race and become a Fundraiser; you can make an additional contribution to the American Red Cross and become a Donor.

For addtional questions regarding fundraising and donations, please contact andrea@bluecheetahtiming.com
