Supporting Heart Center Families

Hi family and friends! I’m reaching out to you again to belatedly honor Eve’s 2nd birthday and Heartiversary by raising funds for the Johns Hopkins Heart Center and Pediatric Cardiac ICU!! Also, since my birthday is days away- I’d love to dedicate it to this fundraising effort- I can’t think of anything I’d want more than to support and raise funds for the place that gave Eve a second chance at life. The team at Johns Hopkins Children's Center means so much to our family- it’s a place so near and dear to us and we’ll forever be touched by the care teams that dedicate their careers to saving these heart babies and giving them the best shot at living a healthy life.
 
This year we have a special project as our fundraising goal. After speaking with some of the care providers on the unit in the PCICU, it was made clear to me that there’s a goal to improve the inpatient experience for the heart families during their difficult journey in the intensive care unit.  You'll remember this is where we spent a lot of time after Eve's surgery. This may seem like an odd request- but we are hoping to raise funds for specialized chairs that would ultimately give a resting place for moms & dads to sit much closer to the baby’s beds/warmers during their stay in the PCICU. I would have loved to have something like this during our inpatient time with Eve. While we were there, it was either standing for chunks of time to get close, or waiting for a sweet nurse to give up their chair and let me sit and get closer to my baby so I wouldn't have to be on my feet. And for me, as I’m sure it is for many of the moms on the unit, this was hours after giving birth. This chair would provide a comfortable spot for mom or dad or whoever is visiting, to be able to sit and be close to their baby and strengthen the bond between them.
 
I thank you all for being a part of Eve’s journey through this and all we hope to do is better the journey for other heart families walking in the same shoes we were in 2 years ago. We hope that you’ll consider being a part of this project! It would greatly impact these heart families and babies in such a positive way. We love you all❤️
