Stewardship Days

Description

We've completed our M Trail work days for the 2021 season. Check back for more opportunities!

Join us in partnership wtih Friends of the M Trail to help restore one of Missoula's most iconic trails!

What you will be doing:  Most of the work is moderately-hard to hard but we can find some easier tasks as needed.  Regardless of what you are doing, you can pace yourself and the sessions are not long.  We are primarily removing rocks from the trail, removing the cant (sideways angles), smoothing the trail tread and installing railroad tie water bars.  Occasionally we will be putting in rock steps and doing other trail repair.

What you need to bring:  Work gloves, sun hat and water.  Please also bring a facemask for those short periods when we may need to work closely with one another.  Don't forget to put on sunscreen.  If you think you want to swing a pick-ax it is best to wear glasses to protect your eyes.  We will have all of the tools that are needed for the evening's work.

What time and where to show up:  You can join us for any portion of the session. Our leaders will be at the M-Trail trailhead at 4:30pm each session and plan on being back at the trailhead by 7:00pm.  If you can't make the whole time, which we understand due to work and other schedules, hike up the trail to where you will find us working.  You are also free to leave whenever you need to get going.

Please note that there are inherent risks in participating in in-person events during the time of Covid. Please take this into consideration prior to signing up.
