Description
The Burlington Junior Woman’s Club has been serving Alamance County for over 60 years. In order to keep
providing the much needed programs in our community, we need your help. This year we will be hosting our 9th
annual Ta-Ta Trot 5k on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The Ta-Ta Trot is a fundraiser established to help raise
awareness for breast cancer and promote better overall health.
In addition to benefiting the Burlington Junior Woman’s Club community service initiatives, we are proud to
donate a portion of the funds raised from this event to local organizations and funds that assist cancer patients
with treatment and/or that raise awareness about cancer, cancer prevention, and early detection. As community
non-profit organizations we depend on events such as this 5k run to make our annual contributions to our
community. Some additional examples of the Burlington Junior Woman’s Club’s community projects include:
• Project Shoes - adopted in 1993 by BJWC in order to provide shoes and socks to needy children in the
local school system and community. Last year we were able to provide over 100 pairs of shoes to
children within the Alamance-Burlington School System.
• Woman2Woman Project - adopted in 2018 in conjunction with the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Day of Service. After being made aware of the need for feminine hygiene products for the less
fortunate and/or transient population in Alamance County, Burlington Junior Woman’s Club chose to
partner with the Greater Alamance Woman’s Club to provide emergency feminine hygiene products
for women and adolescent girls who were receiving assistance from Allied Churches of Alamance
County Emergency Night Shelter and the Southern Alamance Family Empowerment ministry
(S.A.F.E.).
• Local scholarships – Burlington Junior Woman’s Club provides two yearly scholarships to deserving
seniors from our area schools.
