Registration & Check-In Opens: 7:30 AM
5K Starts: 9:00 AM
Join us for the 3rd Annual Run for Refugees 5K, a community event benefiting World
Relief Durham and our work serving refugees and other immigrants across the Triangle.
Whether you’re a competitive runner, casual walker, coming with a team, or bringing the
family, we’d love to have you join us!
Registration
Adults: $40
Youth ages 6–17: $20
Children 5 & under: FREE with a registered adult. No registration is required for
children 5 and under; T-shirt and professional timing are not included.
Professional race timing is provided by Run the East.
Please note: The deadline to register with a guaranteed race T-shirt was July 31.
Race Day Check-In & Packet Pickup
Registration and check-in open at 7:30 AM at Miracle Park.
Race packets and bibs will be distributed at the registration/check-in area on race
morning. There is no advance packet pickup.
Parking
Parking is available on nearby streets and at the South Parking Deck at American
Tobacco Campus, located at:
653 Jackie Robinson Dr., Durham, NC 27701
The parking deck is a short walk from the race start and finish area at Miracle Park.
Please allow extra time for parking, walking to the park, and checking in before the 9:00
AM start.
Course & Hydration
The 5K is an out-and-back course on the American Tobacco Trail, beginning and
ending at Miracle Park. The course and turnaround point will be marked, with volunteers
helping direct participants along the route. See map here
There will be two hydration stations:
One at the 5K turnaround point
One at the finish line
Participants are also welcome to bring their own water bottle.
Restrooms
Restrooms are available at Miracle Park. Please note that there will not be additional
portable restrooms for the event.
Awards
Overall Awards
Awards will be presented to the fastest overall male and female finishers.
Age Group Awards
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers in each age
group:
14 & Under | 15–19 | 20–29 | 30–39 | 40–49 | 50–59 | 60–69 | 70+
Fundraising & Team Awards
Top 3 Fundraisers – Recognizing the three participants who raise the most additional
funds for the race.
Top Overall Team Performance – Awarded to a team of three or more with the best
overall average time.
Top Team Spirit Award – Celebrating a team of three or more that shows outstanding
spirit through costumes, signs, and creative collaboration.
More Than a Race
The Run for Refugees 5K is an opportunity to run, walk, gather and stand alongside our
refugee and immigrant neighbors.
Come for the 5K and stay to enjoy the community! We’ll be joined by local partners and
vendors as we celebrate the people and organizations that make the Triangle a
welcoming place for newcomers.
