Pirates Vs. Cancer Scare Cancer Away 5K

Pirates Vs. Cancer will host its first ever 5K race, the Scare Cancer Away 5K, at the ECU Health Science Campus. Students, hospital staff, and community members will run or walk 3.1 miles on a certified course with professional timing to show our support for pediatric cancer patients in Eastern North Carolina.

It's Halloween weekend, so please show off your fabulous costumes. We will have a best costume contest!

This event will not replace our main hair shaving event in the spring but instead will help bring awareness year-round by kicking off our fundraising efforts in the fall. One hundred percent of all funds raised will benefit programs and services designated for the needs of pediatric cancer patients at the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital in Greenville. These donations will fund critical in-patient needs, such as upgrading medical equipment to provide these children with more effective and manageable treatments. Additionally, donations raised will provide Child Life Services with funding for comfort items crucial during mentally and physically difficult times.

Registration closes the day before the event at 11:59 pm.

T-shirts are guaranteed until October 17th. Registrants between October 18-28th will be given T-shirts as available on a first come first serve basis.
