Zombie Fun Run/5K at the Creek

Step into a post apocalyptic time where zombies walk the Earth.  Everyone must race for their lives to outrun these flesh-eating creatures.  Gather your family and friends as there's no time to wait!  We must save the human race!

The Zombie Fun Run/5K at the Creek is a 5K course on the campus of Gray's Creek High School.  A portion of the course passes through a wooded area.  Participants have the option of choosing the 5K Run or the 3K Fun Run.  The 5K Run is for the avid runners who focus on racing their best time.  The 3K Fun Run is a 3K race which welcomes students, families and joggers of all ages.  You can walk or run  in this event.  This year, we have also added a 2K Kids' event for children 12 and under.

In the 3K and 2K events, participants will wear a "life belt" with 3 flags.  Zombies will attempt to snatch one of your flags as you pass by.  If you finish the race with at least 1 flag, you will be considered a "Survivor."  If you have no flags left, you will be considered "Infected."  The zombies will be trained not to be aggressive but to gently pull your flag.  Stay alert so you can protect your life lines!

High School XC Teams:  Add the Zombie Run as an invitational event on this season's race schedule!  When registering 10 or more student athletes, the entry fee will be $10 per runner.  Please contact us at gchsabc@gmail.com to register your team today!  Participants will be running for their best individual times.

Costumes Encouraged:  Take your experience to the next level by wearing a costume!  Make your own tattered and torn zombie shirt/costume with a little face paint.  Or, wear your favorite seasonal costume.  A prize will be awarded in each category:  Zombie Costume and Favorite Costume.

Awards Ceremony:  After the 5K Race, medals will be presented to the top 5 race times for women and the top 5 race times for men.  Participants in the 2K and 3K races will receive a ribbon based on whether they still have a flag left on their life belt when crossing the finish line.

Entertainment:  The GCHS theater department will be performing skits, songs, and other festive activities throughout the event.  Share some laughs and good spirit as we enjoy the magic of fall!  We will also be offering zumba as a warm-up for each race.

Door Prizes:  All race participants will be included in a drawing for gift cards throughout the event.  Winners must be present to claim their prize.

Race Day:  Please arrive 1 hour prior to your race time.  Depending on the speed of the runners, your race could begin a little before or after the stated start time.  Themed t-shirts and refreshments will be available for purchase.  Even if you are not running in the event, you are welcome to come out and enjoy the morning with us!
