Description

The #Walk4Unity event targets ndi Igbo-Ukwu of all ages, especially from the ages of 16 till 70 years and it is geared towards promoting healthy living among our people while raising awareness on the need for peace and unity in the town as we are faced with the lingering tussles of IDU 3, Alo 2 and ODU 3 stools crisis and other challenges. The current developmental backwardness of Igbo-Ukwu can never be overemphasised and it is for this reason that we've assembled like minds to help make this a success.

At the Run For Life Campaign, mass mobilization is one of the tripods upon which the campaign was founded in the eighties, and we wish to use the Unity Walk to mobilize our people towards pursuing a common cause as a people and ensuring unity of purpose, while promoting healthy living.

Also, the rampaging effects of the abuse of methamphetamine (AKA mkpuru mmiri) and other hard substances are part of the issues we will raise awareness on as we walk. The abuse of methamphetamine has been an issue on the front burner of discourse in the entire Southeast, and Igbo-Ukwu must also take a position to stamp it out.

Another key area of interest will also be raising awareness for our environment. Environmental consciousness should be a concern to all and sundry as some part of  Igbo-Ukwu is getting on the verge of been washed away due to the resultant effect of erosion.

Join us and let's make history together. Let's walk for unity!
