Montclair's Hash-Inspired Fun Run

Strap on your shoes, grab your hash gear, and join Fleet Feet Montclair and Hoka for a night that will be epic, our first ever Hash-inspired Fun Run!

What is Hashing?

Hashing is a non-competitive mixture of athleticism and sociability, hedonism and hard work. Hashing is an exhilaratingly fun combination of r*nning, orienteering, and partying, where bands of Harriers and Harriettes chase Hares following the trails of 3-5ish miles. All in search of exercise, camaraderie, good times and beer!

Hash Lingo Guide

• Hare: The person who sets the trail for the hashers.
• Hashers: Participants in the hash run.
• Trail: The marked route that hashers follow, typically indicated by symbols such as flour markings, chalk, or paper, leading them through various checkpoints (checks), false trails, and eventually to the endpoint (On-In).
• On-On: Shouted to indicate you’re on the right trail.
• On-Back: Called out when you’re off trail and need to return.
• On-In: The designated endpoint or finish point of the trail 
• Beer Check: A break during the trail for refreshments (yes, there will be beer!).
• Hashit: A humorous award given to a hasher for a memorable incident.

Whether you're a seasoned hasher or curious newcomer, all are welcome to join our next hash run in Montclair. Don’t forget to bring your sense of adventure and humor!

Montclair Hash Run Details:

• Trail will cover 3-5ish miles (our "trail" will be all pavement)
• Participants will get at least 2 complimentary drinks
• Swag! Who doesn’t love a commemorative t-shirt
• A to B loop, we will start at Fleet Feet Montclair, and end at a bar within walking distance of the store. 
• Bring hydration vessels, we will have places for you to fill up along the trail
• There will be beer and maybe Fireball but all drinking is optional. You can choose to pass or partake in all "hydration opportunities"
• Participants must be 21+ years old
• A little nervous because you're a hashing virgin? No worries! We will have on course Mischief Managers/Makers ensuring no one ends up in a neighboring town. They might let you get close though. ;)
