XLH Cross Country Challenge

Description

Come along with us as we cross the US on our way to XLH Day 2020!  Form a team of 10 of less people and plan to participate beginning July 6 until October 10.  We will leave San Francisco, CA and head towards New Haven, CT.  Even though we cannot be together in person, we want you to be part of the journey every step of the way. We'll meet XLHers and their families en route to XLH Day in addition to physicians and researchers who are dedicated to the patient community. 

Start the journey on your own or be a part of a team.  This challenge is not just physical.  You will earn points/miles and advance along the challenge route by doing some of your favorite activities.  These activities include attending virtual events, donating to The XLH Network, or shopping online at AmazonSmile. Your participation and voluntary donations will be instrumental in helping us to achieve our goals of increasing awareness for this rare disease and fundraising for future medical developments.

The following activities are an approved list of activities for this challenge.  They include:

  • Running-record actual miles;
  • Bike Riding-record actual miles;
  • Walking-record actual miles;
  • Swimming-record actual miles;
  • Yoga for 30 minutes-worth 3 miles;
  • Reading for 30 minutes-worth 2 miles;
  • Donating to the XLH Network at Networkforgood.com or click the donate button above-DAILY $10 minimum and contribute as many times as you want!-worth 5 miles;
  • Shop at smile.amazon.com and link to the XLH Network instead of just shopping at amazon.com-worth 2 miles per transaction;
  • Share about XLH or the XLH Network on social media-worth 1 mile per posting;
  • Introduce and add a new member to the XLH Network-worth 5 miles;
  • Sing the XLH Strong! song found on youtube.com and post to social media-worth 7 miles;
  • Create team t shirts and post pictures on social media-worth 10 miles;
  • Weight Training for 30 minutes-worth 4 miles;
  • Complete any act of kindness-worth 2 miles; 
  • Aerobics-worth 2 miles for every 30 mins; 
  • Basketball-worth 3 miles for every 30 mins;
  • Gardening/Yard Work/Household Chores-worth 2 miles for every 30 mins;
  • Practice Music-worth 2 miles for every 30 mins; 
  • Take the Stairs-worth 1 mile for every flight instead of the elevator, and,
  • Registering for XLH Day-worth 5 miles.

To cross the United States, this challenge is 2978 miles long.  We have 14 weeks from start to finish, which is an average of 212 miles per team per week.  Let this be your guide.  The more team members on your team (cap of 10) the easier the challenge will be for each member!  Good luck teams and thank you for participating!
