Description
The annual Coughlin & Gerhart Race for Justice is set for October 31st, 2021, at 11 AM in downtown Binghamton.
Hello All!
I hope this finds you all well and excited for Sunday, October 31st at 11 AM in downtown Binghamton. One month.
Hopefully, like in years past, we have a beautiful day on Sunday morning.
Here's some pre-race info...
Virtual vs. In-Person
The virtual option is open as of the 1st! Tomorrow. If you'd like to run or walk a 5K at your conveyance, follow the directions to input your time—questions on virtual email Alex (alex.simon@lasmny.org).
Packets
Packet pick-up is planned to be Friday, October 29th, at the Legal Aid Office (168 Water Street) between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. We do this to have less congestion and crowding in the form of race-morning check-in/ pick-up at the Peacemaker stage.
Wave Starts
Right now, we are NOT planning on a wave start. If registrations get to a more significant level, and it would be difficult for runners to distance themselves socially. We may revisit this issue and start the race in waves. You can also hang back from the start rather than pack up - your time starts when you cross the starting line.
Food and Coffee
Big shout out to our Food sponsors Nirchi's and Nezuntoz Cafe they are back for this year. There will be pre-race caffeine and post-race calories.
Course
The course map is linked below. The 5K is a Run/ Walk (3.1 miles) and mostly flat.
A Note about your health
If you start feeling clammy or lightheaded, or have stopped sweating, or dizzy, please stop, let your core temp come back down, and let our aid station volunteers or traffic marshals know if you need assistance.
Race Shirts/ Trophies
All should be receiving a race shirt. If, for whatever reason, you don't get a shirt, please let us know, and we'll get you one. The justice cup is back this year, so that the fastest team will win this coveted trophy in our area. There will also be awards for individual Men's, Women's, and Under 18. Award packets are sponsored by Confluence Running.
Headphones
We are advising NOT to run with headphones live on any of the roads on the course. We'd rather you take in some sounds of the community rather than tuning out into a headset.
Results
We have a chip timer. The times will be posted in the afternoon on the RunSignUp page.
