Cazenovia Turkey Trot 2020 Virtual Run/Walk

Wed November 25 - Sun November 29 Cazenovia, NY 13035 US

Events

5K

Description

Each fall, Cazenovia High School classes typically sponsor a "Pumpkin Run 5K" fundraiser and the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation organizes a "Turkey Trot" on its Gorge Trail on Thanksgiving morning.  Due to the ongoing pandemic, neither group was able to sponsor its traditional event in 2020.  Knowing that the Central New York running community is looking for opportunities to remain active, we have combined the two events into a virtual run/walk over a new route for this year.  We hope to raise money for the CCS Class of 2023 (whose other fundraisers for future events such as their Junior Prom and Senior Ball were also cancelled this year) and raise awareness about the important work that CPF does in our community.  We are also partnering with CazCares by donating 10% of all the proceeds from the event to them to help families in need during this holiday season.

The 5K virtual run walk can be completed any time from November 25 to 29. The course begins and ends along the historic Village Green in front of Cazenovia High School (31 Emory Ave) and winds through the village, passing numerous historical, cultural and natural highlights along the way.  An optional quiz based on the landmarks can be submitted electronically after you finish to be eligible for prizes. Runners may also self-report their times after their run for our virtual leaderboard.  Since runners are self-timing, they are reminded that safety comes first as traffic will not be stopped or controlled as it is during a typical race. Be careful and adjust your time if needed to reflect necessary pauses for safety.

We hope to return to our normal slate of events in 2021, but hope you will have fun participating in our special combined event this year. With all of the good food over Thanksgiving weekend, this will be a great opportunity to get outside, get active, support good causes and learn more about our community.

Please check out our partners' websites below to learn more about how they serve our community or to donate directly to them.
