Mt. Airy Ridge Run is a perennial favorite. This is the largest park in the city and features extensive trails. 

Mt. Airy Forest is, in fact, is one of the larger parks located within a city's limits in the country. Even Central Park can only boast 843 acres, while Mt. Airy holds a massive 1,469.9 acres. The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run is aptly named, as the runners will get a wilderness experience that mirrors the Sierras at times. The course winds through all of the features Mt. Airy has to offer, such as its lush evergreens, dense hardwoods, open meadows, flowing rivers, and of course, hill climbs and ridge traverses.

The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6) miles that will begin at 8:45 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles) that will start at 9:00 a.m. We will begin sweeping the course at 10 am so you need to be finished with one lap by then. 

This is the second leg of the 2021 Dirt Days Trail Series. Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.

Mt. Airy Ridge Run Update: We have added a "Trekker" category for those who would like to do the 10+ mile course but need extra time to finish. If you think that you need more than 2-2.5 hours to finish, we encourage you to consider the this option. You can start at 8:00 or after instead of nine. You will receive a time and credit for participation. Also, you can finish before all the food is gone!

The Course:

The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6) miles that will begin at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles). See the attached course map. The direction was reversed a few years back. The current configuration will be a counter-clockwise loop. Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.

Individual Event Awards:

NEW RACE AWARDS
The overall top male and overall top female in each race will receive a FREE Technical Running ASICS Hoodie. No duplicate winners allowed throughout the series, in this case a roll-down winner will be awarded.  PLUS: An additional FREE Technical Running ASICS Hoodie will be randomly awarded at each event.

Randomly drawn door prizes will be also be awarded at each event. (must be present to win, so stick around!)

Registration Fee: $22.50  Pre-registration per race. Online Registration only. 

Online registration will be available on race day via mobile if we are not sold out. 

Race Day Registration and pick up:

There is no early packet pick up for this event. Check in on day of race is from 7:30 am through 8:45 am.

Covid-19 Update

Guidelines for Dirt Days Trail Series Events during Covid-19

Goal

We have be given permission to host this event by the Health Department, The City of Cincinnati and The Cincinnati Park Board. The permission is contingent on our following guidelines and restrictions due to Covid-19.

Our goal is to provide an enjoyable outdoor experience while preventing the transmission of the corona virus. This is to be done by:

Address airborne transmission

Address surface transmission

Maximize adherence to guidelines with race participants

The Plan

Until the State of Ohio opens up fully, hopefully later this year, we understand the need to follow guidelines in order to host a safe event. Therefore, here are the rules of the road.

There is to be No On-Site Registration. All sign ups will be done remotely, online. You can sign up on race day online via phone or computer so long as we are not sold out.

All participants must maintain physical distancing of 6’ in and around the central gathering area.

If you are exhibiting signs of Covid- 19, please do not show up. We will ask you at check-in if you have a fever or if you have come in contact with anyone exhibiting COVID19 symptoms in the past 2 weeks?

Start Line will be staggered so as to release participants a few a time in order to spread out the field of participants. Faster participants will be encouraged to start first in order to eliminate passing as much as possible.

Any Refreshments will be packaged individually to avoid sharing/touching.

There will be no water station on the course. Participants will be encouraged to provide their own water/snacks.

No congregating after the event. There will be no on-site awards ceremony.

All staff, volunteers, and spectators must wear face coverings at all times, and racers must wear face coverings when not running, except for one of the reasons stated in the Director's Order for Facial Coverings throughout the State of Ohio signed July 23, 2020 or as it may thereafter be amended.

Six feet social distance must be maintained between individuals/family groups except when necessary on the course.

Athletes are not to physically contact each other before or after the event (i.e. greetings, team huddles, high-fives, congregating, etc.)

Hand sanitizer will be available at convenient locations.

All participants including spectators must conduct daily symptom assessments and anyone experiencing any symptoms must stay home.

We are limited to 150 participating athletes.

All participants will be made aware of and must agree to abide by the rules during the sign up procedure in order to sign up.

We all want to get beyond this and back to normal. We ask that you help us so we can continue to offer these events by cooperating with the guidelines. If you don’t thing you can, please do not sign up or show up.

 

About the Dirt Days Trail Series

This is a unique series of trail events in the Greater Cincinnati area. This Series consists of eight dates and ten events. Events will include trail runs of varying distances from about 3 to 11 miles, including a night trail run.. It includes combining your performances in various events to see who are the Dirtiest Dozen men and women. We are excited to be able to put on these slightly different events for the local running community. Run one race or sign up for the series and run them all!

CHIP TIMING

This year's event will be timing using MyLaps Disposable bib tags. The chip will be on the bib number. No need to turn in pull tags or return the timing chip.
