Rally Columbus 5K Challenge

The Rally Columbus 5K Challenge is a virtual race with a unique twist. Runners and walkers will choose to compete on a team, with the goal of staying active, while also raising money for a fantastic local cause - Service! - a relief organization for hospitality workers in Columbus, Ohio. In these unique times, the daily lives and financial situations of hospitality workers at restaurants and bars in Columbus (and all over the country and globe) have been severely impacted by current COVID-19 restrictions and regulations. This is our opportunity to help out! As you take part, you have the option to complete a 5K run or walk anytime from May 25 through June 1, with partial registration proceeds and ALL donation dollars going directly towards relief efforts. Just put in the miles, share your results with us, accumulate points for your team score, and let's raise money for a fantastic local cause!

HOW IT WORKS

This is a friendly competition and also a great networking opportunity for the running and walking community of central Ohio. When you sign up, you have the choice to join one of five Columbus Running Company (CRC) teams:

Dublin CRC
Pickerington CRC
Powell CRC
Westerville CRC
Short North CRC

These teams align with Columbus Running Company's five retail locations around central Ohio. Four stores are currently in operation (Dublin, Pickerington, Westerville, and Short North), and our newest location in Powell will be opening up soon after the current COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Your point totals that you accumulate will go towards your team score. The team with the highest point total at the end of the competition wins! 

HOW TO ACCUMULATE POINTS

10 points - You will receive 10 points for registering for the Rally Columbus 5K Challenge. $10 of your initial signup fee will go directly to Service! to support hospitality workers.
10 points - Completing your 5K (running, walking, skipping, jumping, however you want to do it!) and uploading it via our reporting platform. It doesn't matter how quickly you finish the 5K, rather, completion is the goal.
1 point - For each additional $1 donated to Service! - In order to donate directly, we have provided an easily accessible "Donate" button at the top of our race page. Please help support our local hospitality workers!

HOW WINNERS CELEBRATE

The team that accumulates the most points will be encouraged to host a celebratory gathering at a local bar or restaurant of their choosing, with bragging rights that the chosen team is the "Best in Columbus". Once again, this gathering is another way to help out the service industry and add some extra revenue for that particular local establishment once bars/restaurants are allowed to open back up for gatherings again.

Once we're allowed to gather in person, we'll have that winning team pick a place for a social event. There's no requirement to attend, though all who wish to do so will be welcome. We will be following all recommendations of the state government and medical director.

In order to help donate as much money as possible directly to Service!, we are not offering shirts or medals with the initial registration cost. However, there is an "add-on shirt" purchase option available within the registration process.
