Reverend George Butler Memorial Rail Run/Walk Choctaw

The Annual Newbern Depot Days 5K Race and Fitness walk will now be known as the George Butler Memorial Rail Run. Reverend George Butler began overseeing the race over a decade ago and was determined the race would be held annually regardless of the number of participants. As a tribute to him, the race will continue. All the proceeds from the racing event will go to the George Butler Memorial Food Pantry. This pantry is operated by community volunteers from the Newbern Area and is located at the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was the pastor for over 30 years.
