Description
Join us at the Young Marines 5k in October for a great race. The Young Marines 5k works hard to deliver you a memorable race experience.
Our unit hosts a 5K & 10K run fundraiser October 19th to honor Enrique “Kiki” Camarena a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent, who lost his life in the effort to keep harmful drugs off the streets of America. In commemoration of Kiki’s sacrifice, and in acknowledgment of the thousands of agents and officers just like him who strive to make our world a safer place, the Young Marines run the Drug Demand Reduction (DDR Dash) 5K & 10K as part of our national Red Ribbon Week efforts, and we humbly ask for your patronage in supporting your local San Antonio Young Marines.
The San Antonio Young Marines (SAYM) Organization is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit official education and service program of the U.S. Marine Corps. SAYM promotes mental, moral, and physical development of its members while focusing on character building, leadership, community service, and a drug-free lifestyle. Our unit relies on sponsorships and fundraisers for programs that include the Young Marines National Summer Program of adventures, challenges, camps, and schools (SPACES). Proceeds are also used to cover the cost for Young Marines Leadership courses, Ramps for Warriors Program (we build wheel chair ramps at no cost for local veterans in need), unit equipment, community service projects, Young Marines ribbons and awards, a small summer trip, SAYM annual military ball, and operating expenses.
