Description

We’re excited to announce that the San Antonio National Pan-Hellenic Council (SANPHC) will host its 2nd Annual HBCU Virtual Race Challenge from September 19, 2021 to September 25, 2021 in honor of National HBCU Week!

Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, we are unable to celebrate in-person. Staying active during this time of social distancing is important for our mental and physical well-being! SANPHC wants to encourage everyone to “Just Get Moving!” The HBCU Virtual Race Challenge can be completed from ANY location you choose.

The individual registration entry fee is FREE for all participants.  All communities, family and friends can join any SANPHC Chapter Team.

All walkers/runners will collectively complete the #HBCUTrail. The #HBCUTrail is the distance it takes to travel to each HBCU, starting at St. Philip's College, San Antonio, TX and ending at Howard University, Washington DC. This distance is 14,068 miles! Last year we collectively completed 3,236.43 miles! With 10,831 miles remaining, let's continue on the #HBCUTrail and see how many miles we can accomplish together this year!

It is the hope of the San Antonio National Pan-Hellenic Council that we celebrate the legacies of HBCU colleges and universities across the country.  The opportunities that these institutions have provided for students cannot fully be measured.  HBCU school have provided an opportunity for African American men and women to develop academically, as well as avenues for them to succeed in society.  The experiences that they gain at these hallowed institutions cannot never be understated nor ignored as these school have produced leaders in diverse fields of science, academics, industry, entertainment, business, sports and politics in numbers that have rivaled other institutions of higher learning.

Our goal is to raise $1,000 to support an HBCU school. A scholarship will be awarded to an HBCU Scholarship Foundation. Congratulations again to SANPHC 2020 HBCU Scholarship Foundation Award Recipient, Prairie View A&M University, receiving $1,000!

A message from Mayor Ron Nirenburg

Our San Antonio National Pan-Hellenic Council is a part of a community that embraces scholarship and the benefits that education brings to its citizens. Our local HBCU, St Philip's College, plays a pivotal role in staying true to its goals and objectives and serving the community. We are pleased to say that the leader of our community, Mayor Nirenburg, is here for us. This message helped promote and support our Inaugural HBCU Virtual Race Challenge. The same message applies this year. Let's Get Moving, stay active and celebrate our HBCUs! #HBCUTrail
