Virginia Miles for Midwives 2022 is the second annual challenge to promote midwifery in Virginia. Virginia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, Virginia Midwives Alliance and the Virginia Birth Center Alliance are partnering to mobilize our communities to support midwifery. Join us during National Midwifery Week October 2nd through October 8th to celebrate the midwives in your lives.
Virtual 5k: Get out and run or walk a 5k to support Virginia Midwifery. This is a *VIRTUAL* event and occurs wherever you are!
Midwifery Advocacy Challenge: 1) write your state delegate and senator about midwives, 2) share story on social media about midwives, 3) Like VA ACNM, VMA and VBCA on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter, 4) Watch Advocacy 101 presentation from Midwifery Forward (will share on YouTube page), 5) Attend a legislative event.
Midwifery Education Challenge: 1) Make a social media video about care by midwives 2) share birth story on social media 3) Make a Tik Tok about midwives 4) Like VA ACNM, VMA and VBCA on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter

VA Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives
The purpose of the Virginia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives is to support and promote the concerns and interests of Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs), Certified Midwives (CMs), and Student Midwives (SMs) as we provide sexual and reproductive care to women and individuals in the Commonwealth. Midwives serve individuals throughout their lifespan. The Standards for the Practice of Midwifery set by the American College of Nurse-Midwives guides our collaborative practice model that centers the needs of the people we serve.

Virginia Midwives Alliance Statement of Purpose:
To create an organization that can unite all midwives in Virginia.
To facilitate communication among all midwives in Virginia.
To further the education of midwives.
To educate the public regarding midwifery and childbirth.
To respond to the legal needs of midwives in Virginia.
To further the alliance between midwives and other health care professionals.
To maintain affiliation with local and national organizations who share our interests, as well as midwifery organizations from other states.

Virginia Birth Center Alliance
The mission of the Virginia Birth Center Alliance (VBCA) is to promote the establishment and maintenance of freestanding birth centers in the Commonwealth of Virginia, wherein safe, sensitive and economical care may be rendered to birthing persons, babies, and families and to promote the common business interests of its member birth centers.
