Description
Four-legged friends join the fun at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Go Cross Cyclocross presented by Deschutes Brewery. One of the most heart-warming and hilarious events, Doggy cross is a “cyclo-dog” race with obstacles — but in this dog event, it’s the owners who perform the tricks while dogs run along side and make sure you do them right.
Date & Time: Saturday 9/17 at 11:45am *arrive 30 minutes early to park and get checked-in.
Location: Fallon Park. Plug "Fallon Park Pool" into your GPS and follow signs for Event Parking when you arrive.
- Owner-doggy team categories are by dog weight class - under 30lbs, 30-60lbs, and 60+lbs.
- Options for kids under 11 to participate with a parent!
- For human teammates under age 11, guardians should register under their own name. In three-person teams like this, kids will perform the human responsibilities in the race while guardians accompany the team along the course.
- 50% of your registration will be donated to Angels of Assisi to help local animals find their furr-ever homes.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times and up-to-date on rabies vaccine.
- Owners must carry poop bags and clean up after pups!
Course Details —
- Pets and Owners will compete in heats with other teams in their categories, traversing and completing obstacles to ultimately be the first across the finish line.
- Obstacles will be things like barriers/jumps, dog houses to crawl through, sitting, and rolling over.
- Costumes encouraged! Find out about the Cx-tume Competition!
Winning teams will receive a special Doggy Cross prize to be announced!
