Description
This run is a celebration of what Northern State has to offer with the new trails built by the Skagit Trail Builders!
This event is a one man operation. There is no clock, no bibs, no times (everyone but me wears a watch), no aide stations, and best of all NO FEE!
Yes, there will be the traditional mass start at 10 AM and a finish line will be marked. I will start the race and lead you up to the trail system then turn around a position the sandwich boards for directions to the finish. Yellow for 10K/Orange for 4 Mile.....two different finish lines!
The idea is for runners of all abilities to gather to come experience the beauty that Northern State has to offer by running on two handcrafted bridges over Hill Creek then through the towering Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Spruce trees.
After the race, runners can enjoy the fellowship with those who ran with you while sharing the beauty of what you had just witnessed! Treats will be provided by Starbucks and Skagit Runners.
The course will be well marked with mile markers in place, And yes, both courses are accurate!
No Dogs or Strollers. Sorry but the trail is too narrow.
PS: Remember this is a public trail system. I will put up warning signs a week before the race but more than likely there WILL be people and dogs on the course. Can't do anything about that.
Shout out to Starbucks for bringing coffee and Skagit Runners for providing cookies for all!

REVISED COURSE: The Song Sparrow 10K/4 Mile Map
The run will start near the Pavillion. Runners will run up and around the barns and to the upper area of the farm where they will continue on the gravel road down to the Access Road that leads up to the Skagit Trail Builder Trails. Here runners will take a left to the trailhead for for a short way then left down to Pumphouse Bridge where they will cross Hill Creek.
After crossing the bridge all runners will continue on the Pumphouse Trail to the Song Sparrow Bridge Jct. (You veer right up at the meadow) Once across the bridge you will take a left up Hill Creek Trail, come back down Access Road, right on Elk Trail, then left on Hill Creek to go back to the Pumphouse Bridge.
Before arriving to the Pumphouse Bridge, you will pass the 3 mile mark. At the bridge Jct, 10K runners will head right to cross the bridge again and 4 milers will go straight to exit the trail system
10K runners will then head back over to the meadow jct where they will now take a left and run the Meadow Trail and the North Knoll Trail back to the Song Sparrow jct trail where once again they will take a left, run up the trail then down the access road. This time they will just run back down the road and head to the finish line.
4Milers: Once you get back to the road you just run the reverse of your start and around the barns to the finish line.
10Kers: You will do the same although you will add the bonus loop up at the top of the farm lands to get the distance for your 10K
This change was made to keep the Speed Racers from running into the back of the pack. Never the less, all runners please run single file on the trails.
Custom Made Course SIGNAGE!!! :)
All runners will follow the BLUE signs until the 3 Mile Mark
After than 10K will follow YELLOW signs and 4 Milers ORANGE signs
