Event has been cancelled

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the CdLS Warriors on the move Run/walk scheduled for October 5, 2024 due to low attendance. We know many of you were looking forward to the event, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. While we are disappointed that we won’t be able to hold the race as planned, we’re committed to supporting the CdLS Foundation and very pleased to share we raised almost $3K in donations. This will make such a positive impact on the CdLS community.

Description

Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) is a rare genetic disorder that is present from birth. It causes such a broad range of potential physical, cognitive, and medical challenges that it is now known as the CdLS spectrum disorder. CdLS does not discriminate—it affects both genders equally and is seen in all races and ethnic backgrounds. The occurrence of CdLS is estimated to be 1 in 10,000 live births, but because it is so variable, it could remain undiagnosed. The Run for CdLS 5K and 2-mile walk events aim to raise funding and awareness for the CdLS Foundation and the community it cares for, including my son, Zach. Proceeds raised at the event will go to the Foundation and its incredible work. For more information, please visit www.CdLSusa.org.

Meet Zach

Meet Zachary Isaiah Guran! He is 3 years old and was born with a rare syndrome called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. Zach is an incredibly resilient kid. He consistently deals with some sort of discomfort daily. He struggles with hearing, and he is non-verbal which makes communication and caring for Zach very complicated. Some of his biggest challenges include feeding, swallowing, digestive discomfort, gaining weight (failure to thrive), low muscle tone, severe acid reflux, small hands, limbs, and feet, a weakened immune system, and several developmental delays. My wife and I have learned how to manage Zach’s needs, but we still don’t always get it right and are constantly learning new ways to help him as time goes on. It has been a difficult journey to say the least filled with unpredictable twists, medical mysteries, and scary moments. With that said, being his parents has been equally as rewarding.
