Join us for a presentation by local runner and Registered Dietician Cara Harbstreit ( on ways to eat healthy during the upcoming holiday season while providing the fuel you need to train!  In addition to the presentation, all attendees will receive a copy of the very popular new cookbook from elite American runner Shalane Flanagan and and chef Elyse Kopecky.  This whole foods, flavor-forward cookbook proves food can be indulgent and nourishing at the same time. The Presenter

Cara Harbstreit is a registered dietitian living, working, eating, running, and reading in Kansas City. She has lived in the Midwest her entire life and after a stint as a college athlete, beer-taster, and urban dweller on the other side of the state she moved back to KC where she lives with her new husband, two cats, and a job working as a wellness dietitian. Cara loves the world of wellness because to her, there is no such thing as routine. In any given week she is teaching culinary classes, meeting with folks for nutrition consults, attending health fairs and community events, and developing new programs. The creativity and freedom she enjoys to explore all things food, nutrition, and health is what she emjoys the most!

When she is not working not there, you’ll likely find Cara hanging out at home (fixer-upper projects galore), running through her neighborhood or on the trails around town, reading any and everything she can get my hands on, attempting to maintain an inconsistent yoga practice, recipe testing + eating, or planning her next getaway.
