Honeyfest History
Named after the Walter T. Kelley Company in Clarkson, Kentucky, now known as Kelley Beekeeping—one of the nation’s largest producers of beekeeping supplies—the Clarkson Honeyfest has become a highly anticipated annual event. The entire city gets into the spirit, with homes and businesses adorned in bee-themed decorations and light poles draped in flags and ribbon bouquets that welcome visitors from across Kentucky and neighboring states. This festival embraced and generously supported by the community, draws thousands of attendees each September, offering a wholesome, family-oriented atmosphere and a variety of festivities. In 2006, the Clarkson Honeyfest was officially designated by the Kentucky General Assembly as the Commonwealth’s Official State Honey Festival.
